Nestled in the town of Buxton on Hatteras Island/ the Cape Pines lies in the heart of the Outer Banks of North Carolina near the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. It is surrounded by ninety miles of white sandy beaches/ the deep blue Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pamlico Sound to the west. Originally built by one of the founding families on Hatteras Island/ the Cape Pines is rich in island history. The island is accessible from the mainland on the north at Kitty Hawk/ NC/ the birth place of American Aviation fifty miles away/ or via the NC Ferry Service from Cape Lookout/ NC/ from the south. The mighty Atlantic ocean and the infamous sandbars known as the Diamond Shoals surround Hatteras Island and the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. Visitors enjoy these barrier islands as remote and peaceful sanctuaries abundant with numerous bird species and marine life. Traditional accommodations are featured at the Cape Pines Motel with personalized service of Angie and Bill Rapant. Both owners are veterans of the hotel industry with experience in 4 Star hotels in New Orleans/ Washington/ Chicago/ and New York City. They are constantly working on improving the rooms while preserving their original charm. Many rooms feature original hardwood floors and knotty pine woodwork. The suites have fully equipped kitchens/ while deluxe rooms offer refrigerators/ microwaves and coffee pots. For the budget conscious there are standard rooms with two beds/ TV/ and wireless internet access. Families/ sportsmen/ and nature lovers enjoy our accommodations and personal service. The motel is within 10 miles of the Ocracoke Island ferry and close to the famed kiteboarding area Canadian Hole. Pets are welcome in designated rooms and free wireless high speed internet is accessible in all rooms. An outdoor swimming pool is open May through October and the beach is only 3 minute drive.
