A stay at The Elk Mountain Lodge is like being a member of the Innkeepers extended family. The recent renovation of this historic miners hotel still leaves the old charm of the turn of the century. The Elk Mountain Lodge is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood surrounded by historic residences, yet only two blocks from the Crested Buttes main street, Elk Avenue, two blocks from the shuttle to Mt. Crested Butte Ski Area, and four blocks from the groomed Nordic ski trails. Most guests who fly in for their stay at the lodge don't bother with car rentals because everything is so convenient. The staff at the lodge is always available to give guests suggestions for the best local off the beaten path special places in the surrounding Rocky Mountains.

For driving times, allow about 30 minutes from Gunnison, 2 hours from Montrose, 3 hours from Grand Junction, 3.5 hours from Colorado Springs, or 4.5 hours from the Denver airport. -- Directions -- Crested Butte is 231 miles Southwest of Denver. Another way from Denver is 285 S to Poncha Springs-Salida. South on 24, West on Hwy 50 over Monarch pass to Gunnison. In Gunnison go N on the 135 to Crested Butte. If you are arriving from other directions please know that Kebler Pass and Cottonwood Pass are closed in the WINTER.
