World's Largest Gibson Guitar at Hard Rock Park

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Nothing Hard Rock is ever complete without a fabulous guitar. The world's largest Gibson guitar, a spectacular 70-foot guitar icon, now towers over the Hard Rock Park lagoon. The park announced their partnership with Gibson Guitar on January 23rd making the guitar manufacturer the Park's official music sponsor and supplier. The guitar icon will be used each evening in the laser and fireworks show at Hard Rock Park.

The icon will sit on a 600 square-foot Gibson retail store and gallery, elevating the whole structure to 90 feet in the air. Park-goers will be able to purchase a variety of Gibson branded products and check out a display of one-of-a-kind Gibson guitars, including the new, Gibson Robot Guitar, a revolutionary, automatic, self tuning, guitar. The store will feature a special hand rail imprinted with a timeline of Gibson's history, and the interior will be designed to make guests feel as though they are actually entering the inside of a guitar.

The All Access Entry Plaza area of the Park will also feature the Gibson Guitar Plaza. It's a 248-foot long promenade designed as a replica Gibson Vegas High Roller guitar, whose base extends into the lagoon making a perfect sight-seeing deck, accented with Gibson guitar handrails. In addition, many interactive opportunities for guests are planned by Gibson Guitar.

Myrtle Beach is the site of the world's first Hard Rock Park, a 140-acre music-themed amusement park affiliated with Hard Rock Cafe. The $400 million project has more than 40 attractions, a multi-purpose live-music amphitheater with state-of-the-art sound, roller coasters, children's play areas, restaurants, cafés and retail stores. The park, located off U.S. 501 in Fantasy Harbour, is developed by HRP Myrtle Beach Operations LLC. Construction began in 2006, and the park is scheduled to open on May 9, 2008.
