Internet Travel Monitor - Marketing & Research April 2, 2008 Study: Ohio Wine Industry Thriving BENNINGTON, VT – A study commissioned by the Ohio State University has found that the wine industry along Northeast Ohio's Lake Erie has developed into a top draw for tourists. The study included 131 visitor interviews in July and October of last year, with about 89 percent of participants saying that wineries were the primary reason for their visit to the area. It concluded that tourists visited an average of 3.93 wineries per visit to the state, and bought about 3.8 bottles of Ohio wine while at the wineries and another 5.6 bottles for take home.
