KAUAI, HI – Although Waimea Canyon may be smaller than the Grand Canyon, it is the largest canyon in the Pacific and truly a beautiful and dramatic sight. Carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods flowing from Mount Waialeale, the Waimea Canyon is 10 miles long, 1 mile wide and 3,500+ feet deep. Visitors can see the lines in the canyon walls depicting different volcanic eruptions and lava flows occurring over hundreds of years.
