Installation for Atlanta's Only Outdoor Ice Rink in Process
ATLANTA, GA - Installation began November 1 for Atlanta's only outdoor ice skating rink at Centennial Olympic Park. The process takes approximately 2 weeks and involves erecting a 100-by-130 foot tent, building the 95-by-120 foot rink and generating the real ice by hand. The ice rink opens to the public on November 14, 2009.
Once the ice rink is open, visitors enjoy covered observation seating, theatrical lighting on the real ice and holiday music. The ice rink is open daily through January 31, 2010, including all holidays. Admission is $7 per person for 90 minutes of skate time and skate rental is an additional $2. College student and group discounts are available.
In addition, the ice skating rink has partnered with a number of neighbors and city attractions for some exciting deals. In conjunction with the Georgia Aquarium, the Ice Fishing Pass offers visitors a joint ticket to ice skate and visit the world’s largest Aquarium for the combined price of $29.99 for adults and $24.50 for children ages 3-12. Patrons with coupons from the Center for Puppetry Arts, Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta and Inside CNN Studio Tour receive free skate rental Monday through Thursday.
If you prefer rubber soles on your feet instead of blades, you can take a stroll through the 21-acre park to view the thousands of holiday lights that make up the annual Atlanta winter tradition Holiday in Lights, celebrating its thirteenth anniversary season.
Centennial Olympic Park is a fantastic family destination any time of the year! For more information on ice skating or Holiday in Lights, call 404-223-4090 or visit www.centennialpark.com.
