Coconino National Forest

COCONINO NATIONAL FOREST, AZ - Established in 1908 and surrounding the towns of Flagstaff and Sedona, Coconino National Forest is one of the most diverse national forests in the country. Its landscapes range from southwestern desert to alpine tundra and red rock formations to pine forests. Inside its boundaries are mountains and canyons, lakes and streams. Coconino is the word the Hopi Indians use for Havasupai and Yavapai Indians, the former inhabitants of the area.
