The USNS Comfort Arrives in New York City
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - While taking pictures and practicing social-distancing, New Yorkers cheered as the USNS Comfort sailed into New York Harbor on Monday. The U.S. Navy hospital ship is the largest hospital ship in the world, along with its twin sister ship, the USNS Mercy - now deployed in Los Angeles, CA. The 70,000 ton ships are the height of a 10-story building and the length of 3 football fields. The ship brings 1,000 hospital beds, 1,200 medical personnel, and 12 operating rooms to the area. Comfort was last in New York during 9/11, comforting first responders who were working around the clock.
