Celebrating the Return of the Swallows

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA Ð "When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano" was written by American composer Leon RenŽ in 1939. After its release, the song topped the record charts and made the swallows' annual return known to a whole generation. The tradition continues today. Every year on March 19, visitors celebrate the miracle of the return of the swallows to the famous Mission of San Juan Capistrano in Southern California. Throughout the year, audio and guided tours of the Mission are available to groups as well as individuals.
