Amtrak and Lyft Announce Partnership

Rail company Amtrak and ride-hailing service Lyft have teamed up to make it easier for travelers to get from the train station to their destination.
Customers can now use AmtrakÕs mobile app to request a ride via a connection to the Lyft app. First-time Lyft users will be eligible to receive $5 off each of their first four Lyft rides by using the promo code: AMTRAKLYFT.

ÒWe are focused on improving the customer experience, and this is one way we are working to make your entire journey as seamless and enjoyable as possible,Ó Amtrak executive vice president Jason Molfetas said in a statement.

ÒWeÕre looking forward to working with Amtrak. As a fixture of American travel, Amtrak makes it simple and convenient for passengers, something Lyft feels passionately about as well,Ó Lyft chief business officer David Baga said in a statement.

ÒBoth companies have a long-standing commitment to supporting communities we serve and weÕre excited to grow together.Ó

In terms of nationwide reach for the ride-hailing service, Lyft operates in 80 percent of the United States and reaches 97 percent of Amtrak riders. The new partnership will help travelers reach their destinations quickly and safely.

The current partnership parameters between Amtrak and Lyft are likely to expand in the future, as both companies want to improve the travel experience and connect the communities they serve as they expand their networks.
