POINT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE - Located in Marin County, California near San Francisco, the Seashore is a sanctuary for more than 1,500 plant and animal species living on the coastal beaches, headlands, estuaries and uplands as well as for human discovery, inspiration, solitude and recreation. The National Seashore has about 150 miles of hiking trails, ranger-guided programs describing the area's natural and cultural history, areas for watching whale migration from December to May and places to spot other wildlife, such as Tule Elk and Elephant Seals.
