PETRIFIED FOREST, ARIZONA – The 221,390-acre Petrified Forest National Park sits between I-40 and Highway 180 near Holbrook in eastern Arizona. Each year, about 800,000 people visit the national park to explore the colorful eroding badlands of the Painted Desert, visit the Rainbow Forest Museum, Agate House and Puerco Pueblo, hike the miles of trails in the Blue Mesa, Crystal Forest and see the ancient trees that have turned into stone over the last 225 million years, example pictured here.
