Healing Waters
FAIRBANKS, ALASKA - Chena Hot Springs Resort is home to the hot mineral water of Rock Lake. For centuries, people have bathed in the outdoor lake hoping to find relief from skin conditions, arthritis and other maladies. The Chena geothermal system is fed by water circulating underground as deep as 3,000 feet, picking up the earth's heat and quickly finding its way back up through the granite rock that is found underneath the hot springs area. The water holds a year-round temperature of 106 degrees F.
