Drop Two of the LA28 Ticket Draw is due to open in August 2026
More than four million tickets have already been sold for the LA28 Olympic Summer Games in the opening window of sales.
Tickets for the Games went on sale to the general public worldwide when Drop One opened on April 9 (the earliest on-sale period for an Olympic Games), before it closed 10 days later. Fans were able to receive time slots that allowed them to log in during their designated window and purchase up to 12 tickets for any Olympic event subject to availability, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Prior to that, LA28 organizers said that ticket sales in the initial LA and OKC Locals Presale had “significantly exceeded” first-week sales for any previous Olympic Games. They added that “hundreds of thousands” of Southern Californians had secured tickets before the sales phase had opened for sports fans across the world, and that “millions” of locals had registered their interest in attending the Games.
Registration is now underway for Drop Two of the LA28 Ticket Draw, which is due to open in August 2026. This will give another opportunity for fans who did not register, were not selected in the first on-sale phase, or did not purchase their Olympic ticket maximums.
“The response to our initial on-sale was nothing short of historic. Fans from near and far have spoken: the world wants to be part of the LA28 Games,” said LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover. “The success of Drop 1 is about more than momentum — it reflects LA28’s commitment to delivering a fiscally responsible Games that create a lasting legacy for Los Angeles and its communities.”
According to official data, tickets have so far been sold across 85 countries and all 50 states and U.S. territories, with most international sales originating from the UK, Canada, Mexico and Japan.
Artistic Gymnastics was the quickest to sell all of its available Drop One inventory, while 3×3 Basketball, BMX Freestyle, BMX Racing, Modern Pentathlon and Skateboarding sold the most combined inventory. Meanwhile, new additions to the LA28 sport program, such as Flag Football, Squash, Lacrosse and Softball, sold all of their available inventory.
Drop Two Details
Sports enthusiasts will be able to register for the LA28 Ticket Draw from now through July 22. As for Drop One, everyone who registers will be randomly selected for time slots to receive notification emails with specific details about purchasing tickets.
The limit of 12 total tickets for Olympic events per registrant remains although tickets for the Football (Soccer) Tournament will not go towards the general 12-ticket maximum for Olympic events.
There is also a four-ticket limit for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Fan Commitments
After tracking fan feedback, including from the ticket sales phases for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, LA28 organizers made the following commitments to fans about ticket options:
- Nearly 50 percent of all Olympic tickets will be under $200 and over 75 percent of all Olympic tickets will be under $400
- More than one million tickets will be available for $28
- Pricing will vary by sport, competition stage and ticket category
- Around 5 percent of tickets (for prime seats and marquee events) will cost more than $1,000
It was also confirmed that LA28 tickets will include a 24 percent service fee, compared to 1.5 percent charged for Paris 2024. Speaking to Front Office Sports, LA28 organizers said that the increased service fees would account for processing and delivering tickets in a way that will “align with standard industry practices for ticketing live events in the U.S.”
Verified Multi-Platform Ticket Resale Program
Last month, LA28 announced that its verified multi-platform ticket resale program would open in 2027 with multiple points of access for LA28 ticket resale, including AXS and Eventim as the Official Secondary Ticket Marketplace, and other verified resale platforms Ticketmaster and Sports Illustrated Tickets.
This means that primary tickets will only be available for purchase through LA28 via AXS and Eventim, but no LA28 tickets will be available for resale (listing or publishing) until 2027.
In the initial LA28 Ticket Draw, which was open from January 14 to March 18, 2026, more than five million fans from 194 countries had registered as of late February 2026. Organizers claimed that registrations had been increasing by an average of 100,000 each day, with over 1.5 million signing up within the first 24 hours alone.
Fan Complaints
Despite the ticket sales milestone, fans have taken to social media to share their frustration with the tickets process. Many of the complaints have revolved around high ticket prices, service fees and the limited availability of affordable options.
Of the four million tickets sold so far, more than 75 percent of that total were reported to be under $400, however fans have since said that the lowest-cost tickets (between the $28 and $100 range) sold out almost immediately.
For the most popular, high-demand events, many tickets were priced over $700. In particular, the Opening Ceremony has tickets available from $329 to over $5,500.
Other website users bemoaned technical issues that affected their ability to purchase tickets, with some reporting receiving “access denied” messages after being held in virtual queues for hours, and the service fees that are considerably higher than for any previous Olympic Games (1.5 percent for Paris 2024). While organizers have said that the service fees are “standard industry practice” for U.S. live events and sports matches, which are designed to fund event necessities like customer service for the Games, critics said the fees were both “exorbitant” and “unexpected” when they went to book tickets.
Olympic Hospitality
Premium Olympic Hospitality packages are now available through On Location, the Official Hospitality Provider of LA28.

In total, LA28 will bring together more than 15,000 athletes from around the world, with Los Angeles becoming the third city to host three Olympic Games, after 1932 and 1984.
The LA28 Olympic Summer Games will take place from July 14, 2028, through July 30, 2028.
